Remember T.A.C.T.

Changing any of the principles of T.A.C.T. will increase or decrease the effectiveness of the cleaning process.

Examples include:
- Double scrubbing will increase the Time the cleaner remains in contact with the floor.
- Double scrubbing or using a more aggressive brush or pad will increase Agitation.
- Using manufactures recommended Concentration rates based on soil levels will generally provide best results.
- Using manufactures recommended water Temperature for the cleaning product will provide best results.

Always remember to use recommended safety equipment for all your cleaning procedures.

How Detergent Works - The Four Basic Qualities

1. Wetting Agents -- The chemical process that breaks down the surface tension.

2. Penetrating Agents -- Actually penetrate the soil surface.

3. Emulsification Agents -- Means that 1 portion of the detergent molecule is attracted to oil and the other portion is attracted to water.

4. Soil Suspension -- Now that we have wetted the surface, penetrated , and emulsified the soil, it is necessary to suspend the soil so that it will not redeposit and be easily washed off.

The formulation of a detergent would normally have all of the above qualities but be directed in formulation to the type of soil that was necessary to clean. In effect, you emphasize through formulation certain actions of the detergent so that you achieve greater cleaning effect on specific type of soils.
